Often, business owners ask "Well, what do you know about MY industry?" Sometimes, the reply is quite detailed; other times we say, "Not much...isn't that fortunate?"
Why? We see your operations with fresh eyes, compel you to re-examine why you do things the way you do, and offer insights from other businesses than transfer well to your operations. After all, who ever got to be an industry leader or successful niche player by copying their peers?
However, industry knowledge can often be helpful in shortening the learning curve. Here is a sampling of industries and businesses we have worked with:

My business career of nearly 30 years includes experience in family-owned enterprise, multinational companies, consulting and franchising. In both large and small organizations, I have worked in operations, sales and marketing, strategic planning, finance and human resources.
My career began in a family-owned manufacturing business, where I gained a solid grounding in finance, accounting, and operations ... and invaluable experience in what it means to invest time, talent and hope in your own business. An environment of high stakes, risk and reward, and taking change of your own destiny is where I have lived since childhood..
Unfortunately, our family business was one of many Alberta firms that buckled under the weight of a post-NEP economy in the early 1980's. I managed to land on my feet and began a decade-long marketing career with a global leader in building materials. There, I learned what makes large corporations successful. Relentless discipline and focus on systems, processes, and "the numbers" are some reasons the company I worked for became a global giant.
Working there also taught me that, whether you want to go big, or just get better, small business can learn a lot from big business!
After 10 years of the demands of corporate life, I returned to my "roots" and established an independent consulting practice serving small business clients. Since 1997, I have worked with manufacturers, professionals, industry associations and dozens of small retail and service businesses.
During this time, I spent several years as a franchisee in an international business coaching organization. There, I gained valuable insight about growing a business from a corporate structure to a successful franchise model. I also watched client successes escalate when I delivered business knowledge through a coaching format.
AMATI BUSINESS GROUP is the synthesis of all these business lives, and brings to you my depth of experience, empathy, and a strong commitment to supporting your business dreams.
The Group also draws on the talents of many other dedicated individuals with specialized knowledge, working behind the scenes or directly with you. For more on how we deliver, click here.
My formal education includes a B.Comm. and B.A. from the University of Alberta but I know that university education is no match for the learning you get from running your own business!
