Creating Space For Success
HAVE YOU EVER noticed what happens when you create more time or space in your life? It automatically gets filled, because “nature abhors a vacuum.” Everything grows to fill available space.
The opposite is also true: if your time and life are cluttered, there’s no room for anything new, and you can easily find yourself bored, frustrated, or feeling trapped. Here are eight areas where you can make more space for success:
1. In your mind – Replacing old ideas and thoughts with new ones is the most important space maker, but you need to first create space in the areas below
2. In your environment – De-clutter and get rid of whatever doesn’t fit anymore, or anything that keeps you too rooted in the past. In other words, clean up your production area to get ready for a new run.
3. In your calendar – Create time by saying a firm “no” to peripheral activities. Test your present commitments against your long-term goals and your core values. Start with an audit of how you are really spending your time.
4. In your client list – Make room for more A (awesome) and B (bread-and-butter) clients by putting Conditional C’s on notice, and dropping the Difficult D’s. Watch your revenues and profits rise – even with fewer customers!
5. In your relationships – Stop the energy drain of dealing with people who are negative, non-supportive, or overly demanding. Instead, surround yourself with people who have positive energy and focus. Let in new, supportive relationships that include people outside your traditional circles (for those new thoughts and ideas!).
6. In your energy level – You won’t get there by just working harder. Take care of the most important investment in your business – YOU – by making space to attend to diet, rest, exercise, and important relationships. To get there, think about the 80/20 principle and the many ways there are to leverage what you need to get done.
7. For silence – hear yourself think and connect with your inner wisdom.
8. For others to be their best – let go of your need to participate in and control everything.
Creating space has a way of increasing your attractiveness. So clear your decks and welcome greater richness into your business…and your life!
